The Orange Trail

Gray was once again the color of the day. Low clouds and light sprinklings of rain greeted us this morning. So I used the time to catch up on emails and some web browsing for campsites down the road. Chorro used it for some serious naptime.

After lunch the sun broke through a bit and we knew it was our opportunity to get outside for a while. There are camping trails here inside the park so we chose one to explore. Chorro voted for an off-road adventure, but he is after all on a leash, which says something about the extent of democracy in my system. But one of my sisters will remind me of the philosophy of The Dog Whisperer when she reads this and Chorro will sigh a big sigh knowing I will always be the Top Dog in this arrangement.

So we (read 'I') chose the Orange Trail.

It really was quite pretty.

This early part of the trail reminded me of our old hiking trail along Fleshman Creek right before it flows into the river. No green grass there now.
Something about the green grass along the trail we walked today makes me happy. Snow has never had that effect on me.

Soon we had the bayou on one side and swamps on the other. Both make fascinating subjects for photos, so here's my best for today.

We came back and had meatloaf that I cooked in the crockpot yesterday. Then it was clean-up time and time to make travel decisions so I could finally put away all of my maps and atlases and campground guides and exit Mapquest. We're off tomorrow, leaving Louisiana behind on our westward journey into the great big state of Texas. Good rest tonight.

Tomorrow is a new day.

Dear Vee,
Fell in love with the swamp/bayou pictures, but must admit I cannot tell the difference....especially the one with the ethereal blue light! I went back and looked at it again and again.
So tell me how you got the orange vegetation on the orange trail???
Your misty days remind me of the ocean :-)
Meatloaf in a crock pot??? Never would have thought of that one, but will try it very soon.
Again, Thanks for sharing the highlites of your day--hope you have a tail wind thru Texas!
