Exploring Alabama's Gulf Coast

Here's the Alabama seven a.m. sky that started our day today.

We even had these little birdies singing us a good morning song outside our window. Or were they singing to each other?

We decided to stay another night here and use the day for laundry and grocery shopping. Here's a bit of how Katrina left this state park that we saw as we left to find a grocery store.

This was too Southern California to miss having a picture of. Jeanne, aren't you wishing you could shop here? (Jeanne's our 'California Girl'.)

These high rises sit right on the beach. The view would have been lovely here once, I'm sure.

The Visitor's Center is a stark contrast of architecture suited to the space.

The long expanse of white sand was dazzling, even under cloudy skies.

It was warm and I was lulled by the sound of the waves breaking. I stayed just long enough to call a sister and tell her I was at the ocean. And I brought the peaceful sound back with me to have another quiet moment to take me to dreamland tonight.

And tomorrow is a new day.
