Happy New Year!

New Year's Eve day was a shorts day in the low seventies. I love it! However, the forecast is for a cooling trend all the way to downright cold, so I am starting to put things in order to move south.

I have a couple of little repair jobs to do on my RV. My rear view mirrors have a way of loosening with travel. My son told me that we can fix that by getting a couple of lock washers for the bolts that go onto the truck door. Well, that's not so hard, is it. Sometimes upkeep is a matter of knowing what to do, not necessarily the ability to do it. The other repair job is a little trickier since it is a persistent leak in my roof around my TV antenna connection. It involves climbing up onto the roof and layering on a waterproof sealant. This will be my third attempt at getting it sealed completely. This time, with apologies to my Mom who was a great Scotslady and lived by 'waste not, want not', I'm lathering on the whole tube to create a huge waterproof dome of sealant around my connection, so there!

We debated which "dropping of the ball in Times Square" we needed to watch in order to welcome in the New Year, since we get tv channels broadcasting in both EST and CST. I do know that my sneaky little sister in Washington State watches the east coast New Year's eve at 9:00 pm and then gets a good night's sleep to start the New Year. How smart is thatI

So we watched the dropping of the ball in New York at 11 pm and then watched a time delayed Dropping of the Peach in Atlanta, where relatives live. It was a very big peach.

New Year's Day turned out to be very chilly, urging me on in my decision to move south. Yes, I can find an area in southern Mississippi where the nighttime temperatures are forecast to be ten degrees warmer. I'll take it.

Three of us spent the afternoon cashing in those Christmas gifts cards, or at least doing the appropriate browsing before cashing them in. I also took the opportunity to do laundry and wash my hair, grateful for the abundant hot water that normal houses have.

And grateful most of all for having had this time with my really cool Mississippi family, even though I have also missed my really cool Montana family.

Travel lies ahead.

And tomorrow is a new day!
