Looking for the Gold in California
Today is an exciting day, because in addition to all those maintenance things we didn't do yesterday, we hope to reach Los Angeles and see my niece and her family! I am just a little bit nervous about driving in heavy traffic, but I will be driving in during the time of day when traffic is the lightest.First stop is Petsmart in Victorville. Here's Chorro eagerly (?) waiting for his haircut!
Grooming doggies is a slow process, one might suspect they are not particularly cooperative, although I have never stayed to watch. He turns out to be much smaller after a haircut and looks like my little puppy again. By the way, his name, Chorro, is short for Kachorro, which is Spanish for, yes, a baby doggie.
Chorro's appointment took four hours and during that time I was able to fill up with propane and gasoline and find a small campground where I could empty the holding tanks.
Those are neighbors of the campground. I seem to be no more able to pass up a camel photo than a sunset! We came in to Los Angeles from the north, which means we got to drive through the mountains. The day went from sunshine to rain to sunshine again. I drove from desert into mountains into lush green valleys. I'm sorry I wasn't able to get good photos because the trip was really beautiful, but I did need to stay focused on the traffic for the most part.

Days' end found us at my niece's home watching the Academy Awards. It was a great chance to reminisce with my niece about the time, thirty-five years ago (?) when one of my sisters was able to obtain passes for us to watch the Academy Awards rehearsal at the Dorothy Chandler Pavillion in Hollywood. The memorable part for me, besides the amazingly beautiful Pavillion, was watching Debbie Reynold rehearse a song and dance number. She had a really bad cold and had to stop often to blow her nose. Here are two stars of a future Academy Awards show.
No campground for us tonight, we will sleep on the streets! Well, we'll sleep in the RV parked on the street in front of my niece's house. I hope it's legal.Tomorrow is a new day.
