Barstow

Our day began wih a warm sunrise, although the skies clouded up shortly.

We are in Barstow, California, this morning. It looks like a great little city.
It has a Starbucks. Funny how easily I seem to find them . I am excited because if everything works well today, I will be able to spend some time with my friend Terri from Radiant Recovery. Terri and I were roommates at our first seminar at Ghost Ranch years ago and have kept in touch, mostly online, since then.

Chorro and I have a big agenda for the day though. This is maintenance day. Chorro needs a bath, haircut and pedicure. My RV needs an oil change and an air filter. Our holding tanks need to be emptied and our water tank and propane tank need to be filled. That's a very long list of things to get done in a city I'm not familiar with.

Finding a place that is willing to change the air filter on my RV proved to be difficult, but finally I found one, seemingly the only place in town that would do it. The job is a little more complicated on my RV because it entails removing the inside-the-cab housing that covers the engine. The mechanic called it the 'doghouse'. Chorro wouldn't listen to such nonsense and went back to the bedroom to take a nap.

Then Terri met us
and took me out to see her new home on a mountain side in the desert.
Terri's house has been designed to have a small impact on the planet. Yet it is very cozy and comfortable. Here's the amazing view from her front windows.
We had a great visit, although all too short. We did get just a brief evening light show on the way back to town.

We accomplished our main goal today, which was to see Terri. We also got the oil and air filter changed in the RV. But we will have to wait until tomorrow to do the rest of our maintenance chores.
Tomorrow is a new day.
