11/08/2007 Our First Hike

We woke up this morning to one more awesome sunrise.

Since we are staying here for a few days, it seemed like our first hike was long overdue, and on the way into our site, we noticed a trail sign. Chorro leads the way!

He was so incredibly excited to get off his leash, he must have travelled three times the distance I did, running up the trail and back. He was on scout duty, checking out the trail and racing back to report in. I felt a little guilty that I hadn't let him off his leash in a few days, poor guy.

Lake Murray is a State Park, and quite a large one. There are campsites that range from primitive to full hookups. In this particular little area there are also some 'cabins' on the water that can be rented by the night, week, or month. They are actually floating right on the water.

We came across this fascinating little table-like structure. Too high for a bench, too narrow for a table. I ccan't imagine what it was for, all by itself out in the woods.

An interesting thing I noticed here is that the skies are as blue as Montana's. I looked up and was reminded of a time of driving home to Montana from California and coming up from Idaho noticing about the time I hit the Yellowstone Park area that the skies were so incredibly blue I was amazed. Love those blue skies.

Here we are, arriving back at the campsite, both of us a little tired but happy.

And just in case you missed it, a later shot of the sunrise with the sun actually up.

We're going to spend at least another day here since it is quiet and lovely. And we have a good internet connection and cell connection.

Tomorrow is a new day.

Hi Verla,

I'm still reading everyday!! I passed the site address to Macky and she reads it too. It's in the 70's here today so if you are looking for shorts weather you can always head to Mississippi.
