My RV's Happy and So Am I!

Today was a long day of travelling. We left Cedar Park, Texas, in the brilliant morning sunshine with an idea of getting the RV checked by an old buddy in Kerrville, Texas. The vibration and noise when I am driving persist.

We shortly passed through Johnson City, which, another time, we will investigate more fully, since it is the birthplace of former President Lyndon Johnson and has some historical memorabilia from LBJ's growing up years. It's a very small town -- here's a glimpse of Main Street.

The LBJ ranch, however, is not small, and lies somewhere along here, as this sign announces.

These pictures may or may not be his ranch, but were taken along the highway beside the signs. At least it will give you an idea of what a LBJ country looks like.

It was warm enough that the options were either to turn on the AC or drive with the window down, driving through Texas Hill Country. I chose window down in spite of knowing I'd have to do an extra dusting of my home. The sunshine and warm air let me know I was definitely on the trail of Spring. Maybe even a Starbucks, too!

We arrived in Kerrville in the early afternoon (and yes, they have a Starbucks),

and connected with the friend who did, indeed, find the problem with my RV. Poor thing has been running on under-inflated front tires and worn them unevenly, causing a thumping and vibration. Sincere thanks to my friend, who is an intuitive mechanic of the highest order.

The thumping and vibration will remain until I replace the tires, but in the meantime I can relax and know that I am not going to have to be towed from someplace in the middle of nowhere to a repair show at another place in the middle of nowhere because parts have fallen off my vehicle.

As the sun sank in the west (which means of course driving with the sun in my eyes since I am heading west) we watched for a place to spend the night. Out of the blue appeared a happy little RV park at one of those middle of nowhere exits.

And a sunset, hastily snapped!

Today was a good day.

Well, guess Johnson City is lucky to be the birthplace of Lady Bird's husband, since it doesn't seem to have a lot more going for it, although the sunset is indeed breathtaking!
